Consumer protection, safe, environmentally friendly and affordable mobility, as well as smart digitalization: these are the goals the ADAC also champions at the EU level.

Many of the decisions that shape our everyday mobility are made at the European level. Whether it is the planned phase-out of combustion engines by 2035, new vehicle emissions standards, or harmonised passenger rights in the event of flight delays – the EU plays a crucial role in defining how we move today and in the future.

This is why ADAC actively engages in European policymaking. Our mission: to protect consumers, enhance safety, promote sustainable mobility, and make the most of digital opportunities while ensuring that mobility remains affordable and accessible for everyone.

Empowering Mobile Consumers Across Europe

Modern mobility relies heavily on the use and exchange of data. While this offers great potential, it also creates new challenges for both consumers and businesses. The EU has a key responsibility in protecting travellers in an increasingly digital, connected and borderless mobility landscape. ADAC advocates for strong and enforceable rights for all mobile consumers across Europe whether they travel by air, rail, or road.

Safe and Mobile Throughout Europe

Road safety starts with well-trained and well-informed road users. Intelligent driver-assistance systems can support them effectively, but only if they are reliable, easily understandable and consistently implemented. ADAC continuously tests such systems and promotes higher safety standards across Europe. Our goal is a transport environment in which everyone can move safely.

Advancing Sustainable Mobility

Reaching the EU’s 2040 climate targets requires a holistic, technology-neutral approach. From ADAC’s perspective, the transport sector must make a significant contribution to reducing emissions while ensuring that mobility remains practical, inclusive, and affordable. Whether it is the exploration of hydrogen as an alternative fuel or other emerging technologies, all viable solutions must be considered.

Future-Proof and Affordable Mobility

Mobility is undergoing a profound transformation, driven not least by the shift towards electric vehicles. To ensure that Europe’s transport system remains economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable, policymakers must create long-term, reliable frameworks. Consumers and businesses need planning security to make informed decisions. Tax systems must be targeted, coordinated, and fair, and mobility must remain accessible to everyone.
