After completing your booking, you will receive an order confirmation and invoice via email.
When ordering a digital vignette via the ADAC toll portal, you enter the vehicle type, desired validity period or start date, and your license plate number. If desired, the digital vignette can be valif immediately upon completion of the purchase.
Automatic vignette control cameras installed on motorway bridges, as well as the service and controll staff of the Austrian toll operator ASFINAG, carry out random checks based on license plate numbers to verify whether a vignette has been registered for the respective vehicle.
IMPORTANT: Please make sure to enter your license plate number correctly when placing your order. Otherwise, your digital vignette will not be valid and you may be fined.

The Austrian 1-day vignette, like the 10-day vignette, is valid either immediately or from later date of your choosing.
The 1-day vignette is valid for one calender day. For example, if you purchase a digital 1-day vignette on February 1st at 5:10 PM for immediate use, it will be valid from 5:10 PM until 11:59 PM on the same day. However, if you purchase it on April 15th for May 15th, it will be valid on May 15th from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM.
The 10-day vignette is valid for 10 calender days, starting from the first day of validity. For example. if you purchase a digital 10-day vignette with a start date of July 10th, it will be valid from July 10th at 12:00 AM until July 19th at 11:59 PM.
10-day vignettes purchased via the ADAC toll portal, as well es the 1-day vignette, have no waiting period and are therefore valid immediately.
Of course, the start of validity can also be set to a later date in the future, if desired.
Please check via the validity check provided by the Austrian toll operator ASFINAG whether a valid vignette or route toll exists for your license plate.
If yes, then you can travel with peace of mind! You have successfully purchased a valid vignette and/or section toll via the toll portal and can drive through/to Austria.
If no, then your order was not successfull, and there is no valid vignette or section toll for the license plate you entered.
Please purchase a new vignette or section toll, otherwise yoou risk a fine (called a substitute toll) of €120.
If the vignette or section toll fee was already charged despite the unsuccessful order, we will of course refund the amount.
The digital vignette can be cancelled free of charge within 14 days from the date of purchase/order, provided that the validity period has not yet started.
You can cancel it yourself in our Order Management section.
To log in, please have your order number or the license plate of the vehicle used, as well as the email adress used during the order, ready.

When ordering a toll product with PayPal as the payment method, a pre-authorization (so-called preAuth) is carried out, during which the toll amount to be paid is reserved. At this point, no charge is made yet. The charge will only occur once you receive a confirmation email from the ADAC toll portal about the successful booking of the toll product (vignette and/or section toll) with the respective toll operator.
If you receive a preAuth email from PayPal but do not receive an order confirmation via email, there is a risk that you are traveling without a valid toll product. In this case, please make sure to book a new toll product to avoid replacement tolls.
To ensure that a valid toll product exists for your license plate, please use the following link: ASFINAG Validity Check
If the validity check does not find a valid toll product for your license plate, your original booking was not successful and you are driving without a valid toll product. In this case, please make sure to book a new toll product to avoid replacement tolls.
Note: If you receive a preAuth email from PayPal, it clearly states that the purchase is shown as an open transaction until ADAC Medien und Reisen GmbH has processed the order in the ADAC toll portal. You will also see details about the transaction, such as the date and price, so you know exactly which transaction it refers to.
If you use the vignette-required motorways and expressways in Austria without a valid vignette, a fine (so-called replacement toll) of €120 (for cars) or €65 (for motorcycles) will be charged. If you are unable to pay this fine immediately, you may face a report and a penalty of up to €3,000.

For cars towing a trailer or caravan, only the toal weight of the cars as the towing vehicle is relevant for determining the vignette requirement. As long as the permissible total weight of the car does not exceed 3.5 tons, only one vignette is needed - the one for the car.
For motorcycyles with a sidecar, the sidecar is considered a trailer and is therefore not subject to the vignette requirement.
You can change the license plate number for which you purchased the digital 1-day or 10-day vignette free of charge, as long as the validity period of the vignette has not yet started.
You can make this change yourself via our Manage-Order section. Please have your order number and the email address you used for the purchase ready.
You can change the validity period of your digital 10-day vignette free of charge, as long as the validity has not yet started. You can move the validity period forward or postpone it compared to the original start date.

However, for certain motorway sections (see the list below), a distance based toll, known as a section toll, is charged instead of the vignette. Please note that depending on where you enter these route toll sections, you may still need a valid vignette in addition to the section toll.

All travelers who want to cross Austria from north to south or vice versa as quickly as possible use the Tauern Motorway A10. The motorway runs from Salzburg to Villach. This route is used by people traveling by car, motorcycle, or motorhome to Slovenia or for holidays in Carinthia.
Yes, the section toll ticket for the A10 Tauern Motorway also includes travel through
the Tauern Tunnel between Flachau and St. Michael (or vice versa) or Flachau and Zederhaus (or vice versa), and
the Katschberg Tunnel between St. Michael and Rennweg (or vice versa).
For the section toll on the A11 Karawanken Motorway, you can only purchase a single journey ticket for the southbound direction. The route heading north is tolled by the Slovenian motorway company DARS. Additionally, the border ist located inside the nearly eight-kilometer-long Karawanken Tunnel.
The Brenner Motorway is mainly used by travelers who want to drive through Austria to Italy. From the Austrian-Italian border, the A13 motorway continues directly into the Italian section of the Brenner Motorway.
First, you need to activate the FLEX section toll for a license plate via the regular ordering process. During the process, you also provide a preffered payment method, which will be used for the automatic debiting of your passages (currently credit card and SEPA direct debit).
After successful activation (i.e., after ordering), you can immediately use all six route toll sections. You pass through the toll stations of these sections cashless and without stopping. Your passage is recorded automatically, and you will receive a confirmation email for each passage.
The toll fee is debited from your saved payment method after your trip. Billing takes place within 15 days afrer your first passage.
To check whether a FLEX section toll is activated for your license plate, please use the validity check.
The FLEX section toll replaces the purchase of single tickets for the six route toll sections in Austria by enabling automatic billing of toll fees afterwards. This means you can conveniently drive through the toll stations on the existing route toll sections cashless and without stopping.
However, the FLEX section toll does not replace the requirement for a (digital) vignette. A vignette is still mandatory when driving on Austrian motorways.
Once you activate the FLEX section toll, you can use the following motorway sections without stopping at the respective toll stations. The toll fess will be charged to you automatically afterwards.
A13 Brenner Motorway: The entire A13 is subject to a route toll.
A10 Tauern Motorway: Between Flachau and Rennweg (
Same rule as for purchasing a single section toll ticket: you may use the specially marked green lane or any open processing lane (except the specially marked GO lane). The barrier will open automatically.
Exception: On the A13 Brenner Motorway and the A9 Phyrn Motorway, you may also use the GO lange with a valid section toll ticket (FLEX or single ticket).
The multi-trip ticket (not available via the ADAC toll portal) allows a specific number of trips on a selected toll section without needing to purchase a single ticket for each journey. With the FLEX section toll, you will never pay more per toll section than the price of a multi-trip ticket for that sextion. Once that price has been reached through FLEX section toll trips, you can travel that section for free for the remainder of the period! And that applies for 365 days from your first trip.
Example: A multi-trip ticket for the A13 Brenner Motorway costs €72 and allows six trips across the Brenner. Under the FLEX section toll, we charge €12 (single trip price) for each of the first six crossings. Starting with the seventh trip, and for all further trips, you travel free of charge, as you've reached the price cap of the Brenner multi-trip ticket.
Please note: For the Karawanken toll section, there is no multi-trip ticket available. Therefore, no price cap can be reached that would entitle you to free trips.
You can view your passages/trips at any time in the Order Management section. There, all your trips are recorded with time, toll section, and toll fee.
To log in to the Order Management area, you will need your order number and the email address used during the ordering process.
Since purchasing the FLEX section toll is not an actual order but rather an activation, which does not incur any cost at the time of purchase, the FLEX section toll does not appear on the invoice.
You will receive a separate confirmation for it.
When activating the FLEX section toll, you selected a payment method for settling the toll invoices. You can change this at any time in the Order Management section.
To log in, please have your order number or the license plate of the vehicle used, as well as the email address used during the process.
Please note: The new payment method must be registered in the name of the person who activated the FLEX section toll. Currently, you can pay for the FLEX section toll via credit card or SEPA direct debit.

if you want to change your license plate or register an additional license plate for the FLEX section toll, you must initiate a new regular order process via the ADAC toll portal.
Currently, it is not possible to change the license plate for an existing FLEX section toll via the Order Management section.
We are working on a technical solution to make data changes more convenient in the future.
Thank you for your understanding.
The FLEX section toll is valid idenfinitely, as long as you do not cancel/deactivate it yourself, or it is deactivated by us due to payment default and missed deadlines.
Such a deactivation can be reserved by updating your payment method in the Order Management section and successfully settling the outstanding invoice.
You can cancel your activated FLEX section toll at any time via the Order Management section.
To log in, you'll need your order number and the email address used during the order process.
Once cancelled, your FLEX section toll will be automatically deactivated. From that point on, driving on toll sections will require a new authorization (e.g. single section toll ticket).
Any outstanding toll charges for previously used toll sections will still be collected via your registered payment method.
Note for rental car users:
Please make sure to cancel your FLEX section toll when you return the vehicle!
