As of January 17, 2025, new regulations apply in Austria for certain vehicles, which are also relevant for some users of the Camper toll box:
Vehicles with an F.1 weight less than or equal to 3.5 tons can no longer use the AT service on the ADAC Camper toll box! These vehicles are not allowed to pay tolls in Austria using an OBU (On-Board Unit) and must instead use a vignette or purchase a route-specific toll ticket.
Vehicles with an F.1 weight over 3.5 tons and an F.2 weight less than or equal to 3.5 tons are only permitted to use the ADAC camper toll box for toll payment if the date of first registration is after December 1, 2023.
Vehicles with an F.1 weight over 3.5 tons and an F.2 weight less than or equal to 3.5 tons, and a first registration date before December 1, 2023, must use a vignette or a route-specific toll ticket to pay tolls.
Managing and coordinating toll payments often presents a major challenge. Each country has its own systems, fees, and billing methods. The introduction of EETS aims to address these challenges. EETS stand for "European Electronic Toll Service" and is designed to simplify toll payments across Europe by allowing drivers to use just one device and one contact partner.
With the camper toll box, you no longer need to worry about tolls - we take care of it for you!

Motorhomes over 3.5 tons are subject to tolls in various countries.
The DKV camper toll box, in cooperation with ADAC SE, covers all toll-relevant routes in the following countries (excluding city tolls):
Countries:
Belgium (currently only the Liefkenshoek Tunnel is subject to tolls)
Denmark (currently only the Storebælt Bridge is subject to tolls)
Germany (currently only the Warnow Tunnel and Herrentunnel are subject to tolls)
France
Italy (excluding Sicily)
Austria
Portugal
Sweden (currently only Øresund Bridge is subject to tolls)
Slovenia (including Karawanks Tunnel)
Spain
Hungary
Depending on availability, the box is automatically updated with new countries for toll billing. You don't need to do anything. The toll box just needs to be switched on and have sufficient GPS reception.
Please note: The box lights up green only in toll-relevant countries or sections. In particular, in the rest of Germany and Belgium, the box is currently set and fully functional when the LED is yellow.
The box indicates this with a green LED ring for all activated toll services.
Green LED: The box is ready for toll payment. You may proceed with driving.
Yellow LED: The box is either not personalized, the toll service for the current location is (not yet) booked/activated, the local toll service is not available on the box, or there is no toll systen in this area (Example: In Germany, motorhomes are not subject to tolls. Therefore, the camper toll box will flash yellow (service not booked or activated). As soon as you enter a toll-relevant country covered by the camper toll box, the box will signal with a green light).
RED light: Critical isue. If possible, disconnect the power supply and use an alternative payment method. Please send us an email at: maut-service@adac.de.
Exception: The LED ring turns red after 30 minutes without GPS signal. For example, if you are in a tunnel or garage, drive to a location with GPS reception.
LED off: Sleep mode. The box has entered sleep mode after 30 minutes of inactivity and will wake up again when moved or reconnected to power.
All necessary parameters for your motorhome where configured on your box during the ordering process. Please do not change anything in the menus. You risk penalties from local toll operators.
When the upward arrow button is pressed for 3 seconds, the OBU menu appears on the display of the On-board Unit (OBU). You can then see at a glance: the active toll service (1) and the license plate number (10). Weight (2), axles (3), and Euro emission class (9) are visible if this information is relevant for the active service. Symbols for the type of power connection (4), GPRS reception (5), and GNSS signal (6) are always visible.
If activated, the Bluetooth symbol (7) will be displayed. An active Bluetooth connection between the OBU and a mobile device is shown in the bottom right corner of the display (8).

Your camper toll box is automatically supplied OTA ("Over the air") with software updates and, depending on availability, with new countries for toll billing.
You don't need to do anything.
In This FAQ section, we regularly provide information about updates.
The transmission of toll data takes place via hybrid radio technologies (GNSS/ DSRC/ Bluetooth) for toll collection of motorhomes over 3.5 tons permissible total weight.
When ordering for the first time, the vehicle data and booked toll services are automatically stored on the OBU.
Adding additional toll services is carried out OTA ("Over the air") depending on availability. This way, you always stay up to date.
Attached you will find an operating manual for the camper toll box.
The current version is 6.8.1.2 (June 2024).
How to check which software version is installed on your camper toll box can be found in the PDF file.
Anyone who orders a camper toll box does not purchase it, but instead receives a rental device for the duration of the contract, which can be used in their vehicle.
At the end of the contract, the device must be returned.
For sustainability reasons, returned, fully functional toll boxes are refurbished, making a valuable contribution to reducing electronic waste.
Your ordered rental device may therefore be refurbished, with slight signs of use, but it is always fully functional.
Place the box so that your view while driving is not obstructed. Avoid positioning it near moving parts of the vehicle (e.g. airbag covers).
The OBU (On-Board Unit) must be visible from the outside and must not be covered by other parts (e.g. inactice windshield wipers). For metal-coated windshields, use non-metal-coated areas.
With plug-and-play, simply connect the cable to the power supply and you're ready to go.
Alternatively, the box can be permanently connected to the vehicle's power supply by a workshop.
Each box comes with an installation manual.
Please send the camper toll box to the following address:

Please note: A refund of the annual fee is not possible in case of early return within the 12-month contract period.
Please report the loss immediately to: maut-service@adac.de.
We will arrange for the box to be blocked so that no further toll charges can be processed through it.
Please note that according to clause 5.10 of the special conditions for consumer customers, the rental device may no longer be used after termination of an individual contract, and you are required to return the toll box.

DKV will update the data on the toll box "over the air", provided the box is switched on for at least 60 minutes and has GPS reception.
There is no need to send in the toll box or order a new one.
Yes, the number of trailer axles must be updated whenever a trailer is coupled or uncoupled from the towing vehicle.
The driver must always check and, if necessary, adjust the number of axles when entering a toll area - especially after coupling or uncoupling a trailer.
Example: Changing the number of trailer axles:
In this example, the number of trailer axles is changed from zero (no trailer) to three. After updating the value, briefly press the right button ( > ) to confirm with "ok". Exit the menu by pressing the left button ( < < ) twice.
You can also use this menu to check the currently set number of axles. If you do not wish to change the number, exit the menu without saving by pressing the left button without confirming "ok".
If you exit without saving and the axle number was previously changed, a message will appear for a few seconds: "Value not changed", and the previous value will remain active.
If you purchased a new motorhome or upgraded your existing one, please send us a copy of the new registration certificate Part I as a PDF file (max. 2 MB) via email.
DKV will then send an "over the air" update to your toll box.
Please inform us in advance when you will be able to keep the box switched on with GPS reception for at least 60 minutes, so that DKV can initiate the update.
Note: If your file is very small (e.g. only 10 KB), please check whether the entire document was captured or if the file might be empty.
