FAQ E-Vignette for Slovenia

As an officially authorized sales partner of the Slovenian toll operator DARS, the ADAC Mautportal sells the following digital toll products for driving on Slovenian freeways.

In the ADAC toll portal, toll products for Slovenia can be ordered quickly and intuitively in the form of the e-vignette. Simply select the toll class (car, motorcycle or van) and vignette, enter the start of validity (max. 30 days in advance) and enter the license plate number. Check the data entered, select the payment method and then order.

The e-vignette is a digital version of the vignette that has replaced the conventional adhesive vignette in Slovenia. The e-vignette works via license plate recognition and therefore does not have to be attached to the windshield and removed again when it expires.

How exactly does it work? Here is a brief summary of the individual steps of the booking process:

Step 1: Select the toll class that applies to you (car, motorcycle or van).

Step 2: Select your product or the vignette duration.

Step 3: Now select the validity period (immediately or at a later date).

Step 4: Enter your license plate number.

Step 5: Select the payment method and enter your personal data or e-mail address.

Step 6: Check the order overview one last time and then click on Book with obligation to pay.

Once your booking is completed, you will receive an order confirmation and an invoice by email.

E-vignettes can be purchased in advance - but only up to a maximum of 30 days before the vignette becomes valid. The date of purchase counts as the first day, so you can set the start of validity of the weekly, monthly and annual vignette to the next 29 days. Our calendar function helps you to observe this rule by not allowing a selection beyond these 30 days.

Example: You access the ADAC toll portal on January 1 and can therefore buy a Slovenian vignette with the latest start of validity on January 30.

In the ADAC toll portal you can choose between the following digital vignettes. Please note the specific examples for a better understanding of the respective duration.

Annual vignettes
The annual vignettes are valid for one year from the desired start date of validity.
Example: November 3, 2022, 00:00 to November 3, 2023, 23:59

Monthly vignettes
Monthly vignettes are valid from the day of the start of validity until the same day of the following month.
Example: November 3, 2023, 00:00 to December 3, 2023, 23:59

When booking a monthly vignette with a start of validity on the last day of the month, please note that the last day of the following month is also the last day on which the vignette is valid.
Example: January 31, 2023, 00:00 to February 28, 2023, 23:59

Weekly vignettes
Weekly vignettes are valid for 7 days from the day on which they become valid.
Example: November 3, 2023, 00:00 to November 9, 2023, 23:59

Please note: A weekly vignette cannot be used for a short vacation in Slovenia, e.g. if you arrive on a Saturday and depart on the Saturday of the following week. This is already 8 days on which the vignette should be valid.

The e-vignette check is carried out using vignette check cameras installed at highway checkpoints and in toll enforcement vehicles. Here, the Slovenian toll operator DARS randomly checks whether a vignette has been registered for the respective license plate.

To be sure which toll class is the right one for your vehicle, please use the following vehicle overview. If your vehicle model (passenger car) is NOT listed here, your toll class is not 2B, but 2A.

Motorhomes ≤ 3.5t with entry SA in the registration certificate belong to toll class 2A, motorhomes ≤ 3.5t without entry SA in the registration certificate belong to toll class 2B.
